Choosing a front sight
« on: September 23, 2005, 04:27:46 AM »
How do you select the height of the front sight?  Is there a better way other than to try one, and then go higher or lower?

I tried a 250" front bead on my .35 Whelen and it hits 12" high at 50 yards.  That's with the rear sight adjusted as low as possible.

Here's a formula that will let you determine how high your front sight should be: http://www.muzzleblasts.com/vol3no6/articles/mbo36-1.html
