Hunting Elk
« on: September 23, 2005, 05:35:00 AM »
We went out yesterday after hearing things were getting started and love was in the air.  We went up to the Little Belts and got one bugle, sounded like a young bull, and saw a couple of cows but couldn't locate them after we got to the ridge they were on.  They are sneaky.

Any body else done any good?  I have heard the numbers here are up and I have heard several reports of people with elk down.  One of these days I,m gonna have an elk down. 8)

Thats great.  I am not familiar with Stemple pass.  I heard a big bull came out of the Highwoods this week.  By big I mean a green score of 395.  It was 75-80 degrees out and he lost almost half to spoiling.  I am going to try to get up to the Highwoods sometime next week.  I don't have alot of elk experience but there is only one way to learn.
