Finally!!!!!!!

I got my first bow kill today.  :-D    I filled my anterless whitetail tag this evening in a pretty bizarre way.  I was waiting in a feeding area when two yearlings and a mature doe came in.  They were all grazing but the two youngs ones were playing around too.  They were 20 yards out and I was waiting for a clear shot on the doe but when I drew she caught me.  She was watching me and one of the little deer started bouncing around beside her.  Well when I released the small one jumped right into the side of the doe and she went to her left.  They all took off and I thought I missed but when I got to my arrow it was covered with frothy blood.   After waiting 15-20 minutes I started looking for a blood trail.  I picked up a very obvious trail and at the end was the yearling.   I had shot it right through the neck severing the arteries and the trachea.  It wasn't how I wanted it to end as this turned out to be a button buck but it was my first bow kill.  I guess we will have some tender table fare  this fall.      :D

I took me 4 years to get my first bow kill, started when I was twelve and shot my first bow deer (yearling doe) when I was 15.  

I think back to how many deer I missed when I was a kid and it makes me sick.  Missed a monster 8pt three nights in a row when I was 13.  I don't usually admit that to many people.  Well I used to not admit that.  To have one of those three nights back would be something.  But on the other hand I appreciated the ones I've connected on much more because of it.  

Don't worry what you take with a bow for the first couple of years, let your nerves settle down and then you can be more selective.  

Congrats and good luck with the rest of the season.  5 days left here in Michigan to bow season. :lol:
