Ordered a BC !
« on: September 26, 2005, 11:30:15 PM »
Ive done this in the past but never could get one in.  This time Im planning on letting the order stand.  I already have the Handi in the 45-70,  but Im really excited about getting my hands on a BC :grin:  Until then,  there is alot of research to do in here!

Waiting is always the hardest part of the firearm ordering process...isn't it?   But in the mean time I can find the perfect place to keep it....lay in about 20 years of reloading supplies for it...and maybe just go ahead and order in the williams fp target sight for it now.  So much to do.........so little time :D

I ordered a H&R 38/55 Target rifle with the thinking that I will get the 45/70 barrel later. Did I do this backwards?  I can cancel and get the BC first. I get the impression that they are the same gun. Thanks - Gordy.

Gordy, I think you are right, B C and 38-55 target, are the
same except caliber. could be wrong, have been once in a while,
 Just don't remember when :)  Marv.

From what I can tell, the only difference is a 32 inch barrel and 1/2 pound heavier on the BC. You know they build guns with all swapping parts. One of there unique features, and does well for the price of their guns. Thanks - Gordy.

Gordy;

The only difference between the 2 is the caliber and barrel length.  The frames and stocks are the same.  Part of my plan is to eventually get a 38-55 barrel for the BC.  However,  if you use the barrel program from H&R the 38-55 and 45-70 barrels dont come with any sights.  This may not be an issue for you. :D

I did read that, I just figured I would get the "little" gun first since I will be buying sights for one or the other. I want to start my reloading career on the 38/55. Thanks for the insight - Gordy.

Good luck...better read up on the 38-55.  It's a bit different in the Handi.

Nothing you can't deal with you just need to do a search here and see what's been working for the folks here.

 You will need to depart a bit from what the convemtional wisdom would dictate.

I am getting it in the Target rifle. I would expect it will take a lot of time to get it to shoot the way I want. I plan to move up slow on the loads, I have got the time. Thanks - Gordy.
