« on: September 28, 2005, 06:42:37 AM »
I was looking at the expected fur prices in the fur fish game magazine and they are quite low and with the high price of gas how can a guy come out ahead this year

I still cant wait till trapping season I guess I'll just have to work a little harder this year.
total for this year so far
3 grinners
2 coyotes
4 coons and
1 skunk

 so far

Working harder and smarter will negate higher gas prices.
If you have muskrats,by all means take what you can.Rat prices will be very good this year.
Many trappers are using higher gas prices,as an excuse not to trap.I find this very amusing. They are still going to hunt, they are still going to fish--what kind of monetery return do you get from these? Granted you get some good eating, but no money in your pocket.
They are going to curtail their trapping ventures---the only outdoor activity that actually pays for itself---and with some luck ,lets you pay some of your other bills.
It would be much easier to take,if they just said trapping is hard work, and I don't feel like doing it>
Expect less competition, work hard and enjoy yourself.
 Nothing on earth can match---Trapping.

Amen Tom!  I've always said that if one likes hunting they will like trapping a lot more if they give it a try.  Ace

Hell it's my job !!!!!!! I got to trap!!!!!
Altho, I'm cutt'n back on states this year.Maine is out.Florida and Delaware are maybe's. I'll trap New Jersey and North Carolina for sure.
These I have boat lines all ready established. By boat trap'n, I can run all day on 6 gallons of gas.And still cover a lot of miles of rivers, sounds and bays. Plus I also have trap lines that I canoe.

RdFx, Shackles is just do'n fine. She is on a crash diet tho.Down'ta North Carolina's Convention she ate so much pork Bar-B-Q,last weeked. That she just colasped on the grass. But the Margreata that she drank out of Jimmy Pierce's glass did'nt help out much eather.

Now Newt--I dont mean no disrespect...but i have to ask--
Is Shackles your Ol'lady or your dog??

Back to the subject of gas---who cares??  All a guy needs to do is put out one more otter set to pay the gas for a week!!  if ya aint got otters then sell a yote to the live market--another 65$$ to fill the tank....I sure as hell aint sittin at home....im gonna pile up the fur...one way or another!!
