Opinion Needed on Springfield .45
« on: September 30, 2005, 10:23:12 AM »
I just paid $350 for a Springfield M1911A1 which had been shot a few times.  I need to know if that is a good deal and would like to an opinion as to whether this pistol is comparable to other 1911 clones in value.
Thanks for any info you might like to share.

:D Thats about ballpark price for the gun, could go a few dollars either way depending on condition and adds.  They are an alright gun, mine had feed problems until I got the mag squared away.  I am satisfied with the Springfield keeping in mind, you get what you pay for.  I also bought mine used.

Thanks rockbilly, I'm glad I wasn't robbed. Magazines on Colts were a big problem also. I am assuming that the parts are interchangeable.  Anyone find that they are not? I note that they this one was made in Brazil, or at least it is marked FI Brazil.  Anyone know what "FI" means?

I have two of the Springfields and both have been excellent pistols. Both are the Made in Brazil GI Models. Full size and Champion. The only problem with either is trhe Champion will not lock the slide back on last shot with Chip McKormick mags. Factory and military surplus mags function flawlessly in both. Parts should interchange as well as with any of the others.
