Boys I can't tell ya how many times I've mowed my pasture or somebody elses and watched the rats run for cover.......no more. I bought some of those bird shot, or maybe I should say rat shot loads for the 45 auto and took it with me this week. Made some crow food out of some rats.

I'm thinkin' next time I'll just take the Mark I, cause those rat loads are a bit pricey.
Hey, hold my beer and watch this.

sounds like a hoot.  nothing quite as much fun as punishing a rat for existing.

I've seen the same thing when mowing/ bushhogging...those rats and mice go scurrying.  While I haven't shot them off a mower, or tractor, going down at night and shooting them w/.22 birdshot shells in the chicken pens is a blast.  Might have to try it off a mower.

I've thought of doing the same thing but was a little afraid I might get carried away and take out a front tire.  :)

I used to stand in my mother in laws back yard while my father in law cut the back soybean field in. I'd be armed with my trusty mossberg 12 gauge and a box of dove shells. Large field rats came running out at me in waves when he made passes close to the edge of her yard. Shooting tractor driven rats is kinda the redneck equivalent of them fancy european driven game shoots.  Once my mother in law figured out that my shooting these HUGE field rats kept them out of her house, she'd pick me up shells at Wal Mart.

My doctor has told me no more grass cutting. I don't always do as he says and do some times still get out and cut but not as often down in the field. It has gotten up pretty high.

This afternoon Matt came over and took my tractor down there to cut the field. He said the field mice and rabbits were going in every direction. He got off and chased some. Said he wasn't able to catch any of the rabbits not even the young ones. But he did catch a few field mice. Now he didn't kill them just caught them to show himself and them he could and let them go. I should have gone down with a handgun and some rat shot.

But I was down earlier on the four wheeler and the world went all black and only catching the handle bar kept me from falling. Was having a dizzy spell. Came back to house to take my meds for dizziness and finally got some better.

Sure no shortage of the field mice down near my swamp and when I let that field grow up there are in there by the hundreds.
