Buy one or stay away from them??????
I don't shoot hand guns but may start! I don't care to spend alot on one and the Rossi price was decent. It is a 357-6in-stainles/new/

here is my take on it.... dont do it.

go to gunbroker.com and start looking for a smith 586 or a dan wesson 357.   these can had fairly cheap and you will be way better of than with a rossi.  here is a link or two as an example.....
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=37917130

buying online may seem s bit scarey, but if you ensure the folks you are dealing with have positive feedback,  you will be fine.

that is my take on it; good luck.

I owned one many years ago. The hammer broke and had to be replaced.
It was stolen shortly after. the only consolation is the BG got a sorry weapon.

Wait just a dang minute! Years ago Rossi was a POS, but they have come a long way. They are garenteed for life to boot. My father bought a little snub before he died and loved that little cheap handgun. He could hit a dope can as far as you could throw it. This past year i took a Rossi SS 6 inch .357 in on trade and boys let me tell you what... that thing will shoot!  The Rossi will out shoot my S & W 686. I gave it to my son and he can really hit with it. We ran several hundred rounds of everything from .38 HBWC to .357 JHP. That thing shoots real good. If you can get one for a good price I say go for it. I'm a Smith fan but you can buy quality later, go on have fun now. This is the way I see it,

You want to ride a bike

You cain't afford a Harley?

Buy a Honda and at least you will be riding!

maybe.   but if you could buy a used harley that will hold it's value instead of a new honda (that will be worthless right after you buy it), why on earth would you buy the honda?

check out those links i posted.  this is typical of price of the used  models i mentioned.   you probably will be able to pick up a dan wesson or used 586 for less than you would pay for the new rossi.

Lets not confuse the issue with the comparison of Honda/Jap bikes to Harley. The Harley may have better resale value than most Jap bikes, but the Harley is poorer quality than any Jap bike.

I don't own a Rossi revolver, but from looking at them I would purchase one.

in the motorcycle analogy, i was refering to resale value.   do yourself a favor and dont get me started on harley $#%@*&%  davison.

anyhow,    if a person got a dan or a 586,  they most likely would get what they had in it out of it.   with a rossi,   good luck selling it if you dont like it.

and,  i believe rossi is in bed with taurus; and taurus's lifetime warrenty is worthless because their customer service aint worth a hoot.

Not much of a revolver man, but I do admit to a weakness for snubbies------and "N" frames with 4" barrels and-------wait a minute! Maybe I am a revolver man! Buy a used Smith, about the same money, and, you won't regret it.

ive had a rossi 6 in 357 for years, forget the mod no. its the one with the full underlug, stainless. havent shot it a lot but am satisfied with it for the price i gave. 245$ however i have seen them for much more than they are worth.they are obviously lighter built than a ruger or a smith, feed them accordinly.

Have owned two Rossi revolvers for over 10 years.  A model 88, .38 special with 2" barrel and a model 971, .357 mag with 6 " barrel.  Both are stainless steel with rubber grips and were purchased new.  My wife is also registered as a co-owner on all of my handguns and she uses the .38 as a carry gun.  The .357 is quite accurate, equal to some of my S&W revolvers, and will handle all manufactured ammo including Buffalo Bore 180 gr heavy loads.  Took a large doe with this a few years ago at about 30 yards although have other larger handguns that are better for hunting.

My wife and I have shot nearly 1,000 rounds with the .38 and over 2,000 with the .357, and both performed as expected.  I believe the .38 cost about $180.00 and the .357 about $235.00 in the early 1990's.

Just offering my experiences.
