Hi Folks,

I'm new to the encore. I've got a .308 barrel, and for the time being I'm using store-bought loads (managed recoil) in order to get used to the gun. I've got a Nikon monarch 3x7 scope on it. Are there any sites out here that discuss the best way to hold/shoot the encore? I'm not used to the longer barrel.

I shoot a Contender with 223, 357 Max, 45/410, and 45-70 barrels. They are all 15" barrels except the 410 barrel. I use a 2 handed grip, shoot off of a rifle rest or pillow. 223 and 357 Max will all shoot MOA. Also have a Encore with 7mm-08 and 460 S&W 15" barrels, really have too grasp them firmly. Good hunting rounds, but not something I would plink or target shoot with..... :lol:

You'll have to play around and find what works best for you. I shoot cross handed, I hold with my right hand and aim with my left eye. I shoot most anything left handed and switch hit on all but shotguns. Off of a bench I hold the grip with my right hand and place my left hand on the opposite side to stablize the frame. I learned early not to criss-cross my thumbs, it increases the impact to the thumb on the grip. I then point both index fingers down the frame and use my right hand middle finger to pull the trigger.
