Need some help.

I've got a Chinese B3-1 (5.5mm according to the booklet) that I picked up at a gun show several years back and off a rest it's pretty darn accurate with the 250 count tin of Daisy Quick Silver #722 .22 cal. field pellets I was given with the purchase......I also bought a extra tin which is still full.

I've put around 125 pellets down the barrel but I've finally come to the realization that I need to scope the rifle, do to my almost 56 yr. old eyes and bifocals......the primary use for the rifle is to keep squrriiels off the wifes' fruit trees and out of the bird feeders with the absolute max range being around 20 yards.

Is there a reliable fairly inexpensive scope available......how about the Daisy Powerlines at Wal-Mart, or like everything else does the price dictate the quality ?

How about solid non-creeping scope mounts for the B3-1 ?... I assume they will attach where the iron sight is now located ?

If good / solid mounts are not available for the B3-1 I'm not opposed to upgrading to a differnt .22 rifle in the $150.00 to $165.00 range (scope included) but naturally I'd like to scope what I have because like I said earlier the B3-1 seems to be pretty accurate enough for the intended purpose.

If a different rifle is in order what are your recomendations ?......I want to stay with a cocking lever as opposed to a break over barrel if possible and a "springer" rather than CO2.

Does that B3-1 of yours have dove tail groves in the receiver?  If so any good double strap rings will work and BSA or Leapers air rifle scope will give you good service.  Make sure you purchase a scope that is springer air rifle approved and warranted for springer air rifle use.  If you don't you could end up being sorry and out the price of the scope.  Lawdog

I hate to be a pest but I'd like to get the right / best double strap rings available the first time around......could you possibly give me the mfgs. model number and vendor name of where to purchase them ? ?

Also, for the BSA scope would a person need to order the medium or a high base and ring set ?

I prefer the BKL Double Strap model 263 for all my "springer type" air rifles.  They always seem to hold, no matter what.  You can see them at http://bkltech.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=BKL&Product_Code=263&Category_Code=200.  These rings will work on the BSA model AR312x40 that is on sale right for $69.95.  You can see this at http://www.bsaoptics.com/productdetail.asp?ID=441&Prod_Code=AR312X40.  I have tried to keep the price down as I don't believe you want to spend a bundle on a low cost rifle like the B3-1.  If your willing to spend more than then I can recommend other makes/models of scopes but the rings will stay the same.  BKL are just very hard to beat.  Lawdog

Yup, those Daisy Powerline 3x9's are very good on pump up air rifles BUT they don't hold up under the double recoil of "springer type" air rifles.  My brother in-law tried them and they break very easily.  Good luck.  Lawdog
