Can 7Remington Magnum brass be resized into 7X61 Sharpe&
« on: October 02, 2005, 06:03:38 PM »
The Sharpe&Hart brass was only made by Norma and Graf&Sons hasn't carried it since 2002.

I'm looking for an alternative supply of brass.

I don't want to jam a Remington case in a 7X61 die and get a stuck case if it isn't going to work.

Anybody ever successfully resized the Remington into 7X61 S&H?

Good luck hunting!  >>>------------>

I think you'd want a form die from RCBS, the kind you hacksaw off the extra neck sticking out the top of the die. Shouldn't be too much else to it.

Looking at the respective dims, I'd say it would be very straight forward.  Lube the 7RM case well and go at it.  If the 7RM case is too long for your die to start, trim a bit off the neck before you resize.

From the Handloaders Manual of cartridge conversions.pg.482

Make from: Factory or 300 H&H magnum.Do not anneal cases.
Run into a 7x61 form die.Trim to 2.4".Chamfer.Full lenght resize.Fireform in chamber.They have had good luck making from 300 Winnie mag cases.Run into a 7mm/338 form die,cut to 2.4" and F/L resize with expander removed.Final trim,chamfer,resize with expander in placee,then fire form in chamber.
