Need Help on 1894C from Big 5
« on: October 03, 2005, 07:22:52 AM »
 I just ordered up a Marlin 1894C from Big 5 Sporting Goods.  I noticed that the stock is smooth VS the one in the Marlin catalog.  Does anyone know why this is…Did Big 5 cheepin the original 1894C so they could sell if for less?

And if they did are there any other parts that have been swapped out?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I doubt very seriously that Big 5 are changing out the stocks and forestocks of the Marlin lever action rifles.  Check with Big 5 and find out, maybe it was done by Marlin just for Big 5.

If ya like just call Marlin at the customer service dept, and ask them.

That’s what I did and Marlin said that they do special runs for Big 5 that replaced the stock with Birchwood to reduce the cost.

They also said that is the only substitution, so I am OK with that.

Big 5 Marlins

I know the Wichita Falls Big 5 has the .357 Marlin at $359.  Cheaper stocks?  I have been wanting one of those short .357s.  I guess I would have to pay over $400 at a gun shop for a standard Marlin.
