My first effirt seems to have been lost in the netherworld, so I will try again;

I have inherited a 38S&W cal. S&W break open (hinged) double Action revolver.
I hope that some one out there can tell me how to get more specific details of when it was made,and the exact model.

It looks almost exactly like the "First model"--    http://armsbid.com/images/2100.jpg

execpt thatit has the oval shaped side plate like a Single action:--- http://armsbid.com/images/85224sa38-2.jpg

I have dismantled and cleaned it with care.
The cylinder holes are smooth.
The rifeling is 80%
The nickel finish is 90%
Everything functions properly.

Can anyone out there tell me the exact model, and/or year of manufacture?

It is a family heirloom. I wouldn't take the chance to fire it. If it blew up, I would die of a broken heart
