I am sighting in my 14" 223 and would like your imput. My primary use for this will be varmints. My reload 40 gr V-Max's are shooting at approximately 2900 fps. For a varmint setup what should the point-blank range be. I can figure out the balistic side of all this. Basically I think that if I have it dead on at about 175 yards, the bullets trajectory will not have risen above an inch and a half. This is to say that out to 175 yards I can hold dead on and it will never impact more than an inch and a half high. Do you believe that it would be beneficial sighting it in for a little further out, to where the bullet may rise to two or two and a half inches in it's trajectory? What is ideal?
