Thursday History Question
« on: October 06, 2005, 02:25:33 AM »
Here is one that might even stump the knowledgeable 'ol Rd Fx!  Who is generally accepted as the first commercial lure maker, advertising lures for sale in the Hunter-Trader-Trapper magazine beginning in 1903? Later he marketed his lure through Sears & Robuck and Montgomery Ward.  Ace

No Yottey, 1903 was the year lures were first known to have been advertised.  Walter Arnold's family produced lures as far back as 1870 but the Arnold lures were not first advertised commercially until 1918. The mystery maker's initials were N.C.B.  Ace

I was looking thru some microfisch and found a add  in 1907  by Burbank  in Sears & R on animal scents..... I bet alot of trappers or even other people dont know that Sears started business selling watches and after a few yrs expanded and also sold thier watch business.  The rest is on going and past history.
