Can someone tell me how to float the barrel on my 223 before I start using it for a jack handle?  The best group that I can ge at 100 yds is 2.5 inches off of a rest.

The "poor man's" way is to put a small rubber washer inside the forend where the screw goes, and just tighten it snug. Then, place the front rest at the barrel hinge. Just to be sure, you can try taking the forend off completely and shoot without it, resting it at the hinge. Just remember to hold onto the barrel when you open the action, or that clanging sound of metal against concrete will be your new tire iron...

Also, try the Winchester white box ammo if you haven't already; most of the .223 Handi's love it, and the Ultramax 40gr V-Max.
Life was so much simpler when I thought I knew everything...

Boyles83, welcome to GBO forums come often, these Ol' boys can
give you a lot info. As for as floating the barrel, I often take a plastic
drill hole trim to fit fore arm, use just enough to clear fore arm
so a dollar will slide between barrel and fore arm Take care Marv.

I don't use the o-ring. Instead, I rasp out the forearms screw hole so that the forearms fits easily over the barrel and then leave the screw slightly loose, not rattling, but not snug either. Most of the Handi's forearms I have had were a tight fit between the frame and the forearm screw lug. I believe this pressure creates problems as the rifles heat up from firing. That is why I rasp out the hole in the forearm till the forearm fits free
