10mm for hunting
« on: October 10, 2005, 02:46:49 PM »
Hi folks I am new to this sight and "handgun" hunting other than takeing a few animals by chance with a 357/41mag handgun over the years. I am haveing a custom barrel built for shooting deer and hogs around home and was looking at the 10mm and 41mag for my G2 contender pistol. The average deer around here only go about 80s-120lbs with a big mature buck weighting around 150-160lbs dressed out tops. I was leaning towards the 10mm and 41mag as I owned these cal's before and like them and know what to expect from them. My ??? is on the 10mm does anyone hunt deer with it? The corbon 180gr Bonded core soft points look to be alittle more powerful than most 357 mag loads so I would expect it to be Ok for hunting the deer around here at 50-75 yards tops? I know the 41mag will work I have killed a deer before with my S&W pistol in 41mag no problem.

ive seen and have taken deer with the 10 and have witnessed hogs shot with it. In all cases 180 hardcast flat point bullets were used and the 10 did real well in my opinion

Using our ammunition I have taken several deer here in OK; they run about the same size as you describe in the South and East.
