What cast bullet would you recommend for Marlin's model 1894c in 357 mag for power & reliable function?  I intend to use this as an all around hunting load.

I don't believe a better bullet can be made than my 180 gr FN gc.  In most rifles it will comfortably do 1800 fps, with a case full of H110 or 296, though a few customers say their rifles will push it only 1750 fps.  Not to worry, no animal I've hunted has a chronograph or will be able to tell the difference in speed.  My lady and I have taken two elk, several deer and a pile of varmints with this bullet/load, and it is rare for an animal to move after taking a hit in the body.  I feel real comfortable using it out to 200 yards, but at longer ranges trajectory is a bit high for easy hitting, though the bullet will be deadly out to at least 400 yards, say, if you are trying to put down a wounded animal.  What I mean by that is, as all experianced hunters know.  Never shoot at unwounded animals unless you are sure you can hit and kill clean.  If wounded and running away, throw lead if you think there is any hope of punching another hole to slow it down.
