"pointer" shotgun ?
« on: October 11, 2005, 01:28:30 AM »
I have a friend who showed me a shotgun over the weekend, it has no markings on it except the word "pointer". It is chambered in 20 gauge and has a squared off receiver, does anyone know the manufacturer and production dates?

You sure don't give a fellow much info to work with. You could at least tell us the action type.

Browning used to market a Belgian made O/U and one of the grades was called Pointer. If an O/U that's a possibility but if so I can't believe it doesn't say Browning on the barrels as well as Made in Belgium.

Sorry, the action is semi-auto and it is an extremely light weight gun, smooth barrel, I will try to post some more info on it this evening

the squared off reciver leads me to belive it coul;d be an Browning Auto-5, but i've never heard of them being marked pointer. maybe an Auto 5 knock off, or aFranchi AL-48, their recivers have a squar look to them

it would be cheaper to just buy a real Auto-5....
