I don`t hear much about these models anymore. Are they discontinued? I don`t even see them for sale in the big catalogs? Does anyone own one? How do they shoot? I really like the XR model with the 26 inch barrel. I can`t even find many used, especially hard to find the XR model and very rare is the XR with Walnut stock. Please let me know how they are, and where to get them? I love the Firehawk, but figured the BD would be better with the removable breechplug. Thanks-Jack.

They are still out there, I saw some at Scheels this past weekend. I have one but I am such a newbie myself I am not the one to answer your other questions. Mine works and that is pretty much all I can say. I am hoping to scope it and get it out and do some work with it in the next couple weeks.

They are discontinued as far as I know. They were the big thing in the T/C inline crowd right before the introduction of the encore. They use a straight pull back style striker, that would remind you of a knight rifle without all the junk hanging out of the end of the action towards the shooter. I owned one for about three years, shot open sited groups out to 75 yards, very nice with the 240 xtp and sabots, with 100g pyrodex pellets. they have the QLA barrel. I had the 22" version and was told by the factory that the 26" barrel really didnt add too much to the gun in terms of performance. They were also all .50 caliber. If you check the auction sites, you can usually find one used cheap or sometimes old stock new in the box for a reasonable price. I paid about $270 for mine new back in the late 90's. You should be able to buy one for well under 200 depending on how long you want to look and wait. There was guy selling them on an auction site NIB for 135 at one time, and I was tempted to buy one then. They are a good rifle for that $$. Obviuosly, they also carry that T/C warranty. BTW, slayer, I live about 35 west of pittsburgh, in WV, so if you get one, we could hook up to shoot. I've got a guy I work with here that has a BD he got as a present a couple of years ago. He's never even opened the package of the kit, so he wanted to go shoot as well.

Hello Pete, and thanks for the info :grin: I just don`t care for the Encore and Omega look and funtionality. I prefer a more western look like the NEF Sidekick, or the traditional inline look like the wood stocked Thunderhawk-Firehawk or Black Diamond and even the System 1 is cool. That is a shame T/C drops models so quickly, I guess Used or NIB is the way to go on the Black Diamond. I actually might buy a Firehawk, but I like how the BD has the removable breechplug. Do you live near Weirton? I will be hunting on Saturday in Bavington/Burgetstown area. Do you have a PA liscence? I am going for Muzzleloader Antlerless Deer season and hoping to get my first!! I will be using my NEF Sidekick with 90gr of Goex FFG and a 245gr Buffalo Bullets Ball-Et and open sights, great combo. Let me know if you will be near there? Either way, I would love to shoot!! I belong to Millvale Sportsmans Club in Wexford,PA. just north of Pittsburgh. I would consider hunting in WV, but I don`t have anywhere to hunt

I have a Black Diamond in stainless/synthetic that I bought a few years ago through the mail from Midsouth Shooters Supply (they're not considered firearms for USPS purposes). It's a great rifle: fun to shoot on the range and relatively easy to clean. Every deer I've shot with it (240 gr saboted bullet w two 50gr pyrodex pellets) drops within ten yards. It came with fiber optic sights, but I put a 3-9x32 Bushnell 3200 elite on it, which works great.

I've got the same set up as BIG and mine is extremely accurate, I use the same bullet and powder. Easily hit milk jugs at 150 yds. But, I'm getting the itch to buy an Omega, so mine is for sale if you are interested. 200.oo + shipping. it is stainless and synthetic and absoutly perfect. I hope I get an Omrega that shoots as good.

Sorry, I forgot about this post for a while. I live in the Weirton, WV area. I do not get a PA license as we are allowed to kill 11-12 deer a year here on all our tags. I hunt with a group of guys from our police department. We all have radios and are constantly ribbing each other over something. We are not serious hunters, so be forewarned. We usually hunt in groups conducting deer drives. We butcher our own deer, but we really only chunk them up to save to have the meat made into bologna with cheese or salami or slim jims. I'm about the only ML guy in the group and I hunt with them even during regular rifle season. We are meat hunter primarily, and even with the jacking around, manage to kill a good number of deer each year. We eat what we kill within the group. Our WV deer season opens 11/21 and runs continuosly through 12/31 minus one week I think. I do go into the burgettstown area sometimes to use the public range at the gamelands off the star lake exit, but I mainly go to ranges in Hancock County, WV and Wintersville, Ohio for privacy and security reasons. The range at the PA gamelands is a little too far out in the stix for my comfort, lol. BTW - if you didnt get a black diamond yet, gander mountain in washington, pa had the whole gun/BP set for $199 and I'm seeing them on gunbroker down between 125 and 175. Good deals in my opinion on a solid gun with a lifetime warranty. I need to go sight in sometime in the next week or two, so PM me your contact info and maybe we can arrange something. Good Luck. Of course you can "x" out anything you ould not wat or need like archery the extra deer tags. You may also save some $$ by buying a sportsman package instead, I'll look at that next. I guess not since it does not appear that a sportsman package saves any money.

The nice thing about the stamps is that the extra RRG stamp transfers along from season to season throughout the 2005 year until it is filled with the exception of ML season. The extra antlerless is the same way.

I have a blue/black .50 black diamond. My load is 90 grains of Pyrodex R/S with a 295 powerbelt aerotip. It gets 1" groups at 50 yards.

I only use the 209 primers now. I have a ton of regular #11 caps, but when I use either of the cap nipples, I find I get a lot of blowback, even with lighter loads. When I am using the #11 caps, the cap is blown out of the reciever and there might be a sliver of the cap left. When I use a musket cap with the musket cap nipple, the cap gets blown to shreds. With either cap, the little leather cover for the action gets blown over 5 feet away from me when I fire it.

I tryed the 209 primer and it contains the pressure much better.

I think I might end up getting an Omega to completley seal the breach, and save the Black Diamond as a backup or spare.
