FIRST CONTENDER
« on: October 11, 2005, 02:43:25 PM »
HEY GUYS,
I JUST BOUGHT MY FIRST TC, A BLUED 30-30 WITH PACHMAYER FURNITURE. I HAVE A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS. FIRST, WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN ENCORE AND A CONTENDER? AND SECOND ARE THE BARRELS INTERCHANGEABLE? I WAS TOLD THE ENCORE IS A LARGER FRAME AND THEREFORE CAN HANDLE LARGER RIFLE CARTRIDGES, BUT DON'T KNOW IF THAT IS FACT OR FICTION.
THANKS FOR ANY HELP,
JIM

Yes, it is true - the Encore will handle larger cartridges (Magnums, included) than the Contender or G2.  I look it as if the Encore was the "blg-block" Chevy and the Contender or G2 as the "small block" Chevy.  The Encore is, from the factory, centerfire only.  I have owned and used the Contender for over 25 years and love them - I also have several Encores and have shared equal success with them so far.  I am sure you will enjoy your Contender.
