Last Contender Serial Number?
« on: March 01, 2003, 06:10:16 PM »
Anyone know what it was? I've heard it was around 500,000 (must be about right 'cause I just got frame number three that's a new "old stock" frame in the 459's). Old Stock, doesn't that mean siting on a shelf collecting dust and someone forgot about it?  :)  Wondering if anyone knows what the last one made was before I cut the owners manual off this one and use it, might be worth something more than normal someday if it's close to last. I'll call the factory Monday, but I've not had much luck getting serial number info out of them in the past so I'm hoping one of you guys already found the answer to this question.
Thanks,
Helicopter Bill

That's an interesting thought...We could do a poll on here.  Of all places to look for the last Contender, this would be the most likely place.  Shhhhh....We better keep this quiet, spies are listening, Thompson probably has it locked away in a vault somewhere, and is just waiting to put it on E-Bay.

Just out of curiosity I looked at mine, just got it a month ago and the serial number is 460307. So it was close to the end of the run.

Reckon I'll mount the barrel and shoot the sucker than. For a minute I was scared I'd have to put it away and not use it...and that wouldn't be any fun  Better yet, maybe I'll trade it for an encore frame, don't have one of them yet.

Just curious after reading the above posts,I went and took a look at my contender. Does #A3715 sound right? I noticed all the serial #'s in the above posts were six digit.

the A in front means Armor Alloy, if the frame was reworked to accept regular barrels it will be marked. If you go to the T/C custom shop at this link http://www.foxridgeoutfitters.com/customshop/ctconversions.html it will tell you how they mark them.

How does the Armor Alloy frame compare to a standard contender frame? I traded for this pistol several months ago, but wasn't aware of what to look for in a serial #. The Contender is a stainless frame(as all Armor Alloy may be) and was barrelled with Super 14 in 223 also in stainless.
