My guide on an antelope hunt had one of these, and I was impressed by the optical quality and ease of use. Am considering getting one for myself as the price is right for me. Comments? Better choices in this price range?

The Bushnell Yardage Pro 800 is a very nice rangefinder and will suit your needs very well. Another one that I highly recommend is the Nikon Monarch 800. We sell more Nikon 800's than any other model of rangefinder. I like that Nikon better because of its vertical design instead of the Bushnell's horizontal.
