More newbie scope mount questions!
« on: March 02, 2003, 03:15:00 AM »
Fellas, thanks for all the great info on Ruger scope mount options for the SBH...
I think I'm going to go with the Jack Weigand mount, but I have a few more questions...
The mount is aircraft aluminum, not steel.  Are there any sacrifices being made in terms of strength?  Steel and aluminum have different expanding characteristics, any problems there?
Also, when my SBH is drilled and tapped, does this weaken the topstrap any?
Sorry for all the questions, but I want to do this right the first time!
THANKS!!

That is a fine choice for a base, have no fear over the alloy it is made .
Drilling and tapping will not effect your top strap at all, if you have any fears on scope slideing , use a 3 ring set-up.
