I have a scoped Ruger Single Six in .22 WMR with the 9 1/2" barrel.  Have had it for years.  I had an older Colt Single Action with a 5 1/2" barrel in .22 WMR but the accuracy, while good, wasn't up to what the longer barreled Ruger would do.  These are the only two .22 mag. handguns I have ever owned.  Tell you what throgh, if Ruger ever decides to come out with their Mark II in .22 WMR then you can be sure at least one will find it's way to my home.  Lawdog

I have a 10" TC Contender 22 Mag. with a Nikon 2X scope mounted.  At 25 yds it shoots 3/4", at 50 yds 1 1/4", and at 100 yds 1 1/2".  These are three shot groups using WW 40 gr JHP ammo.   I'm very pleased with this set up.

My 6" Single six is the ticket for me.  Sent it off to Dave Clements for the accurizing package and it came back great.  If your hold is good enough, it will shoot holes open sights at 25 yards.

I don't scope it because I want the challenge of open sights.  For the record, my personal experience is that the TC Contender in 22 mag isn't as good as the accurized clements single six.  Now the 2lr bbl I have is great...it's a true one holer, but I've had 2 mag barrels and the SS outpaced them for accuracy for some reason.

If I were doing it over again, I would get the FA 83 varmint special with a 22 mag barrel in 5-1/8 or 7-1/2.  It'll cost some dough, but if you plan to use it for a lifetime, it is worth the investment.

Thompson Contender with a 14" custom shop barrel, topped off with a 2x Leupold.
With the 33gr Remington premier ammo I am holding 3/4 to 1" groups at 50 yards. Had a 3 shot group last week with all 3 touching.
