Do any of you meticulous loose powder shooters weigh the loads you've measured by volume, get an average weight and then weigh each of your loads before going to the range for a shooting session? If so, does this significantly improve your accuracy?

Also, I'm curious how you transport the "pre-weighed" loads. I have a few "quick loaders" that I use for hunting, but usually shoot a couple dozen rounds at the range. Thanks.

It does shrink group size. My best groups are with weighed charges.

This is what I use. I am trying to locate some more of these vials for my other rifle and pistol.

YES!!!
I do the same as wolfhound... It works perfectly for range, but really great for hunting.... I cut my plastic vials to 90 gr 777.. 295 Powerbelt!

Looking for vials, you say? Well, if you were to stop by the local one hour photo finishing corner of your super market, drug store, Wal-Mart, etc., just ask for their 35mm empty canisters. Works for me!

Excuse me.... I had a brain cramp... I meant to say the plastic tubes that
Pyrodex pellets come in!!!!! I put these vials in a fly box with bullets and primers... Makes a nice vest pocket deal for hunting!

Thanks for the input. I've got the film canisters now, but would like something smaller and more manageable for a lot of charges--I really like the way the vials fit in the plastic cases.

Wolfhound, if you should locate a souce for those vials, I'd appreciate it if you would pass the info to me.

I've never seen Pyrodex in the plastic tubes, but if anyone has a stash of the tubes and wants to part with them, let me know.

A well known muzzle loader bullet maker told me that black powder and bp substitues was designed to make energy by volume, not weight and that weighing charges was ridiculous. However, it sure seems to me that it is working well for many of you. I think I may have to give it a try.

I've never tried it with any powder but Triple Seven so I can't say how much of a difference you'll see with other powders. Seems to me like Triple Seven needs weighed since I see such a big difference. Maybe because it's hotter? :?
