Value of combo rig
« on: October 16, 2005, 03:58:04 PM »
I have a NEF handi-rifle (30-30)with a matching rifled slug barrel (20ga.) that my buddy wants to buy from me for his grandson. (I presently own two such rigs)

My favorite hunting rig is a pre-bancruptcy 30-30 H&R barrel, the one that is the lightweight slim profile, and I hunt with this one 100% of the time. This 30-30 barrel fits perfectly to my Tracker frame.

The Serial #on the one he wants to buy is NK******. Both the 30-30 and Tracker 2 barrels have scope rails attached but I would be keeping the scopes. I don't want to overcharge him but don't want to jip myself either. What do you think I should ask for the combo?

Assuming the outfit is in pristine condition I would say somewhere in the neighborhood of $250 or so.

1-You can't touch a 30-30 handi for less than $200; I looked into ordering one at the local Bi-mart a few months ago and any handirifle would have been $214 plus tax; no 30-30 available at that time.

2-The 20-ga rifled barrel would be an easy $80+or- bill if ordered from the factory, but then you'd have to have the right receiver; haven't looked to see if yours is fittable but I'm guessing it is.

HTH.

Walmart lists a youth combo 243/20ga(22") for $242.43.  Yours is combo that cannot be purchased as a combo, new.  That's worth something.  If the barrels lock up well and the rig is really clean, then I think $200-$250 is right about where it should be.  That's a heck of a deal.

It would also depend on the stocks you have on it..new checkered laminates are over $100 shipped..if these are on it..$300 isn't a bad asking price provided the barrels are fitted properly and shoot fine.Condition is a major factor here..if no scratches, dings, blueing wear..ect...then asking top dollar isn't unexpected or un-reasonable...think of it this way...what would you pay for it if you walked into a gunshop and saw it and wanted to buy it...there's no reason to give it away unless you want to...it's up to you what profit you make on it... if any....now..if you just wanting to sell it for extra cash and make your friend happy at the same time..sell it for what you have in it....not for what you could get out of it...then your both happy :D
