Just wanted to share with everyone a recent kill. I hunted this deer (and this deer only) all of last season, with only one sighting. Well, apparently he lost a little of his wariness over the last year as Sunday evening he was on the receiving end of my Thompson Center Encore. The shot was only about 60 yards and the 7-08 performed flawlessly. This was also the first deer kill my 5-year old daughter had ever seen. She was sitting right next too me and watched the entire event unfold. Thank for letting me share!!

That is actually a "do it yourself" grip and forend. I painted the wood grip/forend black and then hit it on top with a gray fleck-stone paint. And then finally a few clear coats. I was going after that kevlar look. They turned out decent, but I am pretty hard on my equipment, so some of the paint has already scraped off from dragging it through mesquite thickets and such. South Texas brush country can be brutal on equipment.

That's one helluva deer Randy...congratulations!!! I did the same thing to my handi-rifle's stock, except I put the fleck paint on a bit thicker. It makes for a really good hold in the summer on groundhogs. By the way, how is the search for that .44 mag. going. Have a good'un!
