Whitworth 375 H&H
« on: October 18, 2005, 04:44:52 PM »
Can anyone share information about the interarms whitworth rifles.
I just bought one this weekend it came with a leupold 4x33 fixed power scope set in weaver rings and bases also a brown percision glass bedded stock and 175 rds. loaded, half factory half handloads. Plus he threw in 150 rds 45 acp, 50 rds 22-250, 50 rds 308 win,. Just extra ammo he had sitting around. I gave $ 700.00 for all. It seemed like a good deal at the time. On the action from left to right it says WHITWORTH then there is a star with a circle around it, and then it says ALEXANDRIA VIRGINIA and INTERARMS and then MANCHESTER ENGLAND next is a circle with what looks like CZ in the middle. When I took it apart to clean it, I noticed writing near the tang area that said made in yugoslavia. It looks like a standard mauser 98 action, it has a clean barrel no sights. The action on this rifle is very very smooth. Much better that any of my three rugers.
I have read that there are several versions of the whitworth rifles, I am just wondering what mine is.  The serial # is B 277113 any information or opinions are of great help, I am all ears.
  Thanks  45north

Sounds like you made out pretty good. Post this question on the CZ forum for other opinions.

These rifles were made in Yogoslavia by Zastava.  They are a Mauser action with a better safety and are very very accurate.  They were (I Believe) mated with a stock in England and then imported to the US through Interarms.  The standard rifles were called Mark X Mausers and I never had one that wasn't one inch accurate.  The Whitworths were made in the heavy calibers and treasured by those who have them.  If you need a heavy rifle, you can't go wrong with that classic.
