I was wondering how much space shoult be between the fore-end and the barrel? reason i'm asking is i've sanded the area ahead of the stud and sanded more and still the space seems the same.

keep removing material until you can slide a dollar bill between the barrel and stock while it is assembled,all the way back to where the lug sits in the stock.

just sand evenly all along the forend ahead of the stud hole till a dollar fits easily i imagine.

Glass bed the entire forearm and be done with it. :shock:

Seriously, the forearm of my .280 Rem. is glass beaded from the plastic spacer all the way out to the tip of the forearm and the thing shoots great.
I have read an article about others doing this to their Handi's as well with good results.
Something to think about.

I glass bedded about 4" in front of the lug and removed everything foward of that to float the barrel,it shoots REAl good.

your post confused me a bit. 4" in front of the barrel lug/stock hole? i measured from the center of the hole to the end and it's only about 4.5" long. so if i read it right, then only .5" foreward of the hole is floated. Or did you mean that the area between the lug and the pivot of frame/barrel is bedded then in front of the lug is floated?
