225gr LRNFP's in .45 Colt with HI-Skor 800-X
« on: October 20, 2005, 11:25:02 AM »
Hello to all,.........my new USFA revolver shoots to point of aim with this weight, so I thought I'd work up a hunting load with it. Does anyone have experience with this combo?.........if so, I'd appreciate any feedback. BTW, the IMR website only lists 200gr & 250gr weight bullets. Is it safe to split the difference? Thanx, JD45

safe load

Yes, it is safe to use the loading data for the HEAVIER lead bullet and to substitute a slightly lighter bullet.

The reason the lighter bullet is not listed is that 250/255 RNL bullets have long been "the" standard weight bullet in the .45 Colt.

I've loaded and shot 225 grain RNL bullets intended for .45 ACP in my .45 Colt guns for a couple dozen years.  No risk at all.

Thanx John, I'll load some up for the range Sunday & let you know how they do. I might as well try some 250's, too, while I'm at it. They're supposed to go 915. Thanx again, JD45
