May be trading for a 22 K Hornet soon and was wondering about case life when fireforming from .22 Hornet ammo. Are splits in the shoulder area common since it would seem that this area is where most of the forming is done? Thanks for any insight.

Hornet brass life is short, compared to others. And the K-Hornet is even shorter.

K hornet cases last a lot longer than ordinary hornet cases..
I've reloaded norma K hornet cases 10-12 times with no problems

I think much of it depends on your chamber size and how much you tip the powder jug. I usually get a head seperation before a neck split in my Encore. Neck sizing helps allot and I have some brass that's been loaded in excess of 15 times. Also have some that's split on the 4th firing too! If you load it like it was meant to be they last quite a while but......
