I got a break!!!
« on: October 21, 2005, 03:05:37 AM »
I finally got a break!!  :D I bought a Ruger M77 .375 RSM at a great price from one of the online auctions 2 weeks ago and picked it up last night. I just can't believe how beautiful this rifle is! When we took it out of the box my gunsmith thought it was a brand new rifle! The stock has an excellent piece of walnut with great figure and the bluing is perfect. This one more than makes up for all the misses I've had on the other ones!  :-D It's also a great match to my M77 Express 30-06. The trigger is clean and breaks exactly at 3 lbs. The Ruger scope rings that came with the rifle has both the round knobs and levers. The only thing that needs changing is the recoil pad, it's nice but its not too soft! I also want to thank you all for all of great information you've given me! Now if you would like to share some loading information for the 235 gr, the 260 gr partition and accubond and anything else I'd appreciate it! Sorry to ramble on so long... Chuck
If I can't take my rifles with me, I don't want to go!

CEJ1895,

Congratulations on your .375 H&H.  Great rifle and a great cartridge.  As far as replacing the recoil pad that’s about par for the course.  I put Decelerator pads on all my Ruger rifles(actually all my rifles wear them).  Ruger recoil pads are not always the best.  Lawdog

You got that right about the Ruger recoil pads, they are as hard as a rock.

Lawdog, Redhawk1 - Thanks guys! you two have been a great source of information to me. I've dropped off the rifle Saturday to have the recoil pad changed and the front bead replaced with an ivory/white one. One question for you guys - should I just shoot factory loads for a while and then start reloading for it or just start handloading for it from the start? Thanks! CEJ...

If you are set up for reloading, I would just reload. I rarely buy factory ammo. To me finding a load that I loaded and shoot good is a plus.  :D

I'll double what 'Redhawk1' had to say.  Start using what you're going to be using.  Lawdog
