I shoot a Benelli Super Black Eagle and I would like to try the Hevi-Shot this year for turkey.My question is what choke tube do you use? My extra full choke that i use now says no steel.Is hevi shot considered steel? And i would like to try the new ported chokes to help on recoil, but whitch one for hevi-shot?

I'm not sure what choke you would use but I do know that hevi shot is harder than steel so you won't want to use an extra full choke with it. There are specific chokes made for hevi shot but I would think that because of it's hardness a modified choke would probably get you a full choke pattern as it does with steel. The "open" choke is necessary because the hard shot can not "compress" like lead going through a tight choke and could possibly bulge your barrel.

Absolutely DO NOT use your Turkey Extra Full choke. As noted, HeviShot is even harder and less compressible than steel. Steel generally patterns one choke tighter than lead through the same choke, and HeviShot will be tighter still. You will need to pattern your shells, and you may find that an Improved Cylinder may give you what you want with HeviShot. It depends on the HeviShot size how much choke you need. Certainly I would use nothing tighter than Improved Modified, and only use Steel Approve chokes.

Take a note from Remington...

Rem offers a LEAD SHOT Turkey extra full choke tube, but states that it cannot be used for Hevi-Shot. They offer a special extra-full for Hevi-Shot that is less constrictive than the lead choke, but tighter than the standard full choke.

I suggest you contact Briley http://www.briley.com/ and see what they have to offer for your particular shotgun using Hevi-Shot.
