took a quartering shot today....
« on: October 22, 2005, 03:21:15 PM »
and arrow hit a twig 5' in front of me, turning the arrow sideways.  never even saw the twig.   hate it when that happens.

in reference to the other post  "penetration" ,  i wasnt even thinking about it.   had a broadside shot,  i didnt take it.  i let him move a little more, giving me a quartering away shot which i took.    i realize now why i actually prefer the 1/4 away.  because the deer is facing away from you, and the eyes and ears are already scanning the area beyond you.

anyhow, the twig spoiled my plans,  but that is ok, cause the shot was on a little fork and i saw a dandy buck earlier and my tag is still good.

Bummer man. I missed a doe a couple of weeks back coz of one of those pesky twigs.
