Absolutely Exciting! are the best words to describe the new FA .500 WE. As you know, the Model 83 is already a masterpiece of sixgun design, engineering, and general guality. Rendered in a walloping .50 caliber, this becomes a handgun of special uniqueness. I, for one, have got to acquire one of these metal Michelangelos.

Never mind any negative thoughts, here is a six shooter that will bring joy to the hearts of its owners. 7 1/2" is the barrel that makes the most sense to my way of thinking, but whatever the choice, it will be OK. The new case design results from pure necessity and presents no special problems. Rimless case with belt is absolutely reasonable and is clearly not a gimmick of any kind.

Here is a hand cannon that will bring delight to the handloaders' psyche. Freedom Arms Premier Grade revolvers are without a doubt works of art. The lines, the materials, the shear magnificence almost makes the 83 worthy of framing. Beyond that is practical value in a great firearm.

The .500 WE is sure to bring new fans into the FA club and to reinforce the spirit of existing fans, as well.

Great work produces guaranteed success.

Ride the wave!

I'm a little excited about the new offering too and think owning one would be real cool. The loading data hosted on FA web site shows the hard cast bullets being WFN. The case is about four thousandths shorter than the 475 but I still dont think this is going to allow enough room for long nose bullets. When I get a bit more time I'm gonna break out the mic's and see how long of a nose it can take with out having to seat the bullets deeper before crimping.

Take Care,
Scott

I'd be willing to bet Bob has already got that figured out. Why not just call him or one of the other tech guys at FA and ask.

TScotto, read through the data sheet on our web site.  It shows a case length of 1.370 which is .030 shorter than the .475 or .500 Linebaugh cases.  This was to allow for longer nose bullets.  Max. bullet nose length is .395 which gives an overall length of 1.765, same as the 454 Casull.

Bob,

You're welcome. You either want one or you don't. No need in losing sleep over making a decision. I've had hopes in the back of my mind for a while that FA would offer a 50 other than the AE. The only problem is that money was put back for a 97 32/20 32Mag combo. Maybe next year.

Give Erv at ESF a pat on the back when you get a chance. He was out taking orders during the hurricane Monday. He's alwasy been fair by me when ordering your guns.

I didn't notice, are snap caps available for the 50?

Take Care,
Scott

Without question Erv is a good guy and deserves a pat on the back.

Snap caps are available.

I am sure as well.  My Rugers are not long for this world as I make room in my gun vault for a "couple" more from FA's.

Shopping List:

1 Model 97 Premiere 6 inch 22 lr / 22 mag scoped

1 Model 97 Premiere round butt 3 1/2 inch 45 Colt

2 Model 97 Premiere fixed sight 45 Colt 5 1/2 inch
(may want to participate in a mounted CAS event sometime)
