JJ - Sling Question
« on: October 24, 2005, 02:54:18 AM »
Hi JJ, do you and other pro's have a preferred make/model  for a sling on a big bore rifle? Leather? Nylon? Cloth? Carry strap or shooting sling?  Thanks! CEJ...

JJ - Sling Question

I have a sling made from my Cape buffalo hide on my 458 Lott. Some have no sling and some have leather straps, nothing fancy usualy. I never have a sling on my rifle in SE Alaska, the gun must be in my hands 100% of the time. A sling is too tempting and might get used if I leave it on there!

JJ - Sling Question

Thanks JJ, That's how I usually hunt, with the sling in my coat pocket until it's time to head home. I usually don't have to worry about something large and hairy trying to put me on the dinner menu in most places that I hunt like you do. I was just thinking about the best way to sling an 11 pound rifle and still walk comfortably. I guess I'll just have to experiment and see what works best! Thanks again  CEJ...

Wow 11 pound rifle!

My 458 Lott is 9.3 and my 30/06 is just 7.5

No wonder your asking about a sling! That is one hella heavy rifle!!!
