barrel and scope is on its way
« on: March 03, 2003, 04:30:21 AM »
Well I ordered a 26" heavy barrel in 223 three days ago from MidwayUSA and a Bushnell Elite 5x15x40 scope, base and rings from OpticZone last night  to top off the new barrel for my Encore. This should be a good match for target and yotes. What do you think?

If anyone is looking for me I will be sitting here by the door and waiting for the UPS truck  :-D  :)

I know the feeling.  Within the last two weeks I've bought a .22-250 and a 7MM-08 pistol barrel, and a .308 rifle barrel.  They are all going on 209X50 Encore I bought last month (through this site).  This Encore stuff can be addictive!

You should be happy with that combo as long as the coyotes dont get right in on top of you . I have a 26 inch stainless .223 bull barrel that I have been VERY impressed with , The 3rd load I tried in it would shoot 5 shot groups under 1/2 inch at 100 yards with 50 grain vmax bullets and BLC-2 powder .I havent tried a 4th yet.

Reloading is a fantastic hobby , The satisfaction I get from loading ammo that shoots WAY better than factory ammo is great . In some calibers I can save some money and I can always get a better load than factory ammo. The savings just allows me to load and shoot more and the reloading also gives me more time to spend on my hobby. The next step is I am going to attempt to build a single shot rifle action in my garage ,This can be done ther is a book by Frank Dehaas that tells you how .

Things are starting to taper off.  It's been a full week since my last post on this thread and I only bought one more barrel, a 12" .44 Mag off of eBay.  I'm glad I've got this under control.  By the way, is there a Thompson Center 12 Step Program?

Yes there is, First thing you have to do is get rid of all your TC stuff so the temptations are gone. Send them to me as I have nothing more than your best interest at heart.  KN

I'm thinking the twelve step program would be to limit yourself to buying one barrel a month. That would be twelve "steps"a year. :)
