I have a micro A-Bolt that is very well made, but I have always been in love with the HI-Power.  If I had to make do with a 9mm, that is the one I would get.

Altho by far not my favorite I believe the Auto 5 was my first Browning. Bought way too many years ago to even try to remember when it was. But I gave them $200 and got a nickel back in change. Now how long ago did that have to be for a new Light 12?

Well sir, since you and I are about the same age, I'd think you must have been a young sprout :)  My first Browning was a Semi Auto .22LR in 1963.
Sold an FFA project steer and went by the local gunshop on the way home.
Still have it and still shoot it.

BLRs for me .........
« Reply #5 on: October 28, 2005, 08:50:53 AM »
I purchased my first BLR in 1981 (in .358 Win) and it is still the rifle that goes into the woods with me every deer season.  In recent years, I have added three more BLRs to my collection, all older models, for various reasons, all of which were made up just to justify my wanting another one.  Last September one in 7mm-08 accompanied me on my first ever  hunting trip out west (Pronghorns in Wyoming) and despite the fact that some of my acquaintances at my local range thought I was nuts to take it (especially with its 4X scope), it did just fine.

BLRs just feel right to me.
Thanks, Dad, for taking me into the great outdoors.

I shoot my BSS 12ga the most.  I have killed loads of ducks and geese with it.  My favorite would be my auto 22 I bought in 1971.  I also have a BSS in 20ga, an A-Bolt 22, and an older High Power.

My first shotgun was also an Auto-5, long 30 inch barrell and the stock wrapped up in electrical tape to stop a split.  Still have it and it still swings like a 2x8, but I love the magazine cut-off.  My first hunting rifle was an '03 springfield which also has a magazine cut-off.  I think that this is a very practical device on a hunting arm, although I am obviously prejudiced by early experience.

I fell in love with my Dad's rabbit hunting buddy's A-5 in the early 60's but didn't get one till 5 years ago when I got 2 Belgians for a good price. After shooting Winchester m12's all those years I was so surprised to feel the reduced recoil the A-5 seemed to provide. I still like the M12's but hunt more with the A-5's now. I never really wanted any other Brownings but sure like these two A-5's.

My favourite is an older (1966) Browning Auto5 Light 20ga.

If I do my part it breaks clays 100% of the time. Unfortunately I'm not as good as the gun.

My son and i both shoot 12 ga Gold Hunters. I bought his well used 5 years ago and he shoots it for ducks, doves, quail and 4-H competition. He literally has put thousands of rounds through it and until a couple of months back, never had a problem. Finally, something happened to the trigger assembly and here is where it gets sweet. A good buddy shoots for Browning, he sent the trigger to another friend of his that is in Utah with Browning and we got the trigger rebuilt for free and now he is back in business.

I have had mne for 5 years also and as long as it get a good cleaning every flat of shells or so, it's good to go. Light target or heavy 3" duck loads, all the same :-D
Yeah, my boy out shoots me, that's him in the avatar, but I taught him how!

i am absolutly head over heels in love with the Auto-5. mines a belgian standard weight 12, it feels like a natural extension of my arm, i love it's looks and function, i will never own a shotgun that isn't a Browning A5!! (Except perhaps a B-80 or a Citori, also good looking and good shooting guns)

MA DEUCE, OF COURSE!!! The M2 Browning .50 caliber machine gun!  Going on 100 years old soon and STILL the best heavy machine gun in the world.

Coming down to earth, my Belgian B2000 shotgun is nice, as is any Belgian Auto 5.  Dreaming a little, a Safari bolt rifle with the FN action made of Stainless steel with a McMillan stock in .338 win mag would be my ideal elk rifle. Just a dream though........

Boy, that's a tough one.  Browning designed most of the best firearms in history. I voted for the handguns, I love his 1911 design, but as far as Brownings go, I do love the Hi-Power, Godfather of woder-nines!

I have four A-bolts and love them all. My latest additional is a ShortTrac in .308 that I just started to break-in. The rifle is very light and has practically no recoil.

It shoots 1.5" with factory ammo. I will handload some for upcoming weeks.

I worked for the only child of Matt Browning.  Her husband wasnt pleased at all with Browning rifles.  Finally gave up and went with Remington. :)

Wonder what the supper table chat was like that day?

I am torn with this this question but am sticking with the BLR, however last year I bought a Browning citori 16 gauge 24" barrels, straight grip that I absolutely love. Maybe after this year the citori will take top spot.

After the M2 Heavy Barrell,, and I mean heavy.. I know as I lugged one to the track park with all my ta-50 gear many times. I still feel a creek in my back.. and beside the 1911.. for civilain shooters.. / deer rifles.. I love my Acera. Straight pull bolt action,, Accurate and very rare. Have never seen one except for mine in person.. I seem to have the only one in the world ,, well at least ,, Maine..

This is a difficult choise. I love my 1911s, Hi-Power and Buckmarks. But I had to vote for my BLRs. The three of them (257 Roberts, 308 Winchester, and 358 Winchester) covers all the big game hunting offered here in Montana.

I've never fired one, but I'd feel well armed in combat with a Browining 50 BMG machine gun.  I know it's a little out of context, but I've always wanted to light off one of these.  Browning was a genius

Had a Browning Hi-Power .40cal couldn't hardly get the receiver back to get a round in it.  Didn't shoot very well so I sold it and never looked back.  Have a 1959 Standard 12ga A5 probably best shotgun I ever owned really shoots well goes where you point it.  Really high class gun.  Looking to buy a BLR in .308 whenever I can get the right deal.  Really don't need it but it looks nice and makes my heart yearn.

I was fortunate enough to aquire a BLR in 284 Winchester in the early 90's.  I have a cabinet full of rifles but none compare to  this combination of cartridge and gun, short, light and powerful.

Do my Remington Model 11's count?  :) Got 2 A-5's, but there are 6 model 11' in there, too.  My Dad's Dad had a model 11, but dad had the browning, both in 16 gauge.  That's what started my "love affair" with Brownings.
