I'm shocked at quality control at NEF. I picked up 2 new nefs today,a 223 Varmit and a 308 Survivor, and could not believe the triggers on both rifle's,get this they both started out on the scale's at 45 oz.'s,and with a few more pull's the scale kept getting lower. Well it finally settled on a consistant 40 oz's.(thats 2 1/2 pds I think)I'm used to pulling 7 pd. trigger's on new Handi's and now I'll have to learn how to shoot them again. I'm sure if Quality Control had caught this they would have sent it back for a 6 or 7 pd. pull. :-D  :-D  :-D  :-D

maybe it's something new they got to lighten the wieght? and the drop in wieght may just be from breaking-in like a barrel needs to be?

Not sure what myUltra is but its light.
I've gotten use to light tiggers, it makes it really hard shooting a rifle with a light trigger then shoot a mill surp rifle that need a sledge hammer to work the trigger.

For some reason or other, the trigger pull on my 223 is a bit stout compared to my other handis. I'm not complaining, but I think that is the reason I had a hard time sighting it in!

They might have it in for ya Digger, last trigger I had that light quit engaging after about 200 rounds. Had to restone the sear engagment notch to make it good again. Enjoy it while it lasts, obviously the longer the better :-D

Never had any trouble engaging with my 24 oz trigger and this rifle fired a considerable number of shots, 300 or so.

But the hammer spring got soft and misfired. With the new spring the trigger pull increased by 6oz and it is now 30 oz. Not to my liking but I will leave it as is, because the spring will soften again. Some thing to think about when doing a trigger job.

This is not a recommendation for a 24oz trigger. If you are not used to a light trigger then don't do it.

If you record the trigger weight when the rifle is new any reduction in pull weight may likely be the spring has relaxed some? The sear can break in a bit too but being as hard as it is it should not be much.
