Senate overrides governor's veto of gun transportation bill

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. The Illinois Senate is backing a statewide standard for transporting firearms despite the governor's and law enforcement objections.

The Senate voted 38-to-20 today to override the governor's veto of a measure that trumps local laws restricting how guns can be transported through communities.

Governor Rod Blagojevich (bluh-GOY'-uh-vich) had rejected the idea this summer to uphold communities' rights to require gun owners to transport their weapons more securely.

But the National Rifle Association and its allies said different local laws were confusing and unfair to gun owners. They said there should be only one statewide policy for gun transportation.

The bill now heads to the House. If it is approved there, it will become law.

(The bill is SB2104. On the Net: http://www.legis.state.il.us )

They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.
