Songdog...I'm envious. Living back east,,and having a daughter that lives in Ft Collins,,,one of these days I'll have some time to get out there and hunt the wiley one.
This past spring we came out for Easter and while driving back north on I-25 from the airport I was watching the pastures along the way and sure enough there was a yote running through one of the fields.  Got all excited just seeing one.
One of these days...........

....hey tom, i have quite a bit of private land out here to chase yotes.  If you ever get out this way, let me know in advance and I'll set it up right.  I also work for New Belgium Brewing so I can send you back east with a healthy supply of Fat Tire beer.  Fort Collins really does have it all.

Cheers, Shawn

Shawn:  Congrats on the deer and the coyote. :D   That coyote has beautiful fur.  Hope you put it to use.   Can you give us the details on from what distance those animals were shot and what loads you were using?  Best, Mainer

.....thanks tons for the kudos.  It's great to finally find a forum of folks that have the same obsession for the hunt and the handi.  As for the deer, that was my seventh deer with the .243 Winchester Silver Ballistic Tip in .95grn., she took one step at 120 yds and that was it.  As for the yotes, I hand load a 55grn Nosler ballistic tip with 46 grains of Hodgdon H380 to produce a load that cooks at about 3800 fps.  The yote crumpled at 110 yds with nary a step to his last breath.  He succumbed to the Dan Thompson Red Desert Howler, as do many of the eastern Colorado yotes around here.  You guys should come out and play in my backyard.  I'll bring the beer and the bullets.  Cheers.
