Trouble With 777 Pellets

Went to the range today with my hunting partner.  We took a NEF Huntsman, Knight Disk, Encore, and Mossburg 500 Conversion.  We both have been drawn for Muzzleloader Moose.  Temp is in the low 20s and overcast today.  We decided to use the 777 pellets due to east of loading.  It's hard to use measures when the temp is in the teens or colder. Impossiable to load lubed bullets, such as Buffalo Bullets, or T/C Maxi Bullets, when it's that cold so we are using power belts, they load easy in the cold.  Sabots are also hard to load in the cold.  

First shot with the Huntsman, hang fire, a full second delay.  Second and third shot same thing.  First shot with the Knight good, second shot hangfire, about a second delay.  Third shot, good, fourth shot again a hangfire.  First shot with the Encore, good.  Second and third shot also good.  Gun shoots two inches high at 100 yards with 405gr powerbelts and two 777 pellets.  First shot with the Mossburg, good.  Second and third shots also good.  Again shooting the 405gr powerbelts and two 777 pellets.  Need to adjust sites on Mossburg, going back tomorrow.  

I was suprised that the Knight and Huntsman did not shoot pellets well at these temps.  My partner will be measuring loose 777 into speedloaders to take with him for use in his Knight.  I'll be carrying the Encore, with the Mossburg as backup.  I too will be carrying speedloaders, but I won't have to worry about spilling loose powder when I reload.

I have never had a problem with the triple7 pellets in my Encore either. I am using the 25 ACP conversion and it lights them off every time. :D

I had same trouble with my Pursuit LT..was using the new Remington ML 209's. Switched to Winchesters, a lot hotter primer, killed a 145 buck last nite with 3 777 pellets and 348 Powebelts and Winchester  primers at 135 yards.was using my Omega Z5. Have the 25acp conversion in my Encore which works okay.

I've always used CCI 209 primers.  Never had any problems before.  But I've also never shot with pellets at this temprature either.
