Pick a scope+rings for this setup and hunting conditions...

Scope Price:  $500 +/-

Firearm:  12 gauge 2.75" or 3" Remington 11-87 with Cantilever scope mount rifled barrel.

Hunting Conditions:  Variable from thickets and close shooting with 30-40 yards of visibility to possible open areas with 100-150 yard shots.  Majority of shots will be under 100 yards and likely 50-60 yards.  Running shots aren't frequent but possible.

I'd prefer something with decent light transmittance (i.e. decent objective, more so rifle oriented than shotgun oriented at 20mmish)

What would you recommend?

Also if anyone has any suggested bullets to try, that would be great.
My brother has shot Winchester 2.75" 1 oz Sabot Super X slugs out of this gun with some success, not sure what his groups were like though, so I'll probably be starting from scratch.  Figure some Lightfields and Remington loads to start.

I don't have any scopes on my shotguns personally. But I am intrigued by your invite :grin:

And for rings I personally like the Millet Steel rings, but there are many good ones out there like Burris and Leupold's as well.

I don't have a scope on mine... just fiber optic sights... They do well for an 870..

I have had good success with the winchester super-x bri sabots! The groups are 3inchish off the bench (3rd) @ 50 yds with open sights.. The win supreme partition golds do good, but I have trouble shooting more than one or two... 1900fps is hard kicking!!! I think I could do better with a scope...

My buddy has a boltacion rifled slug gun and swears by the lightfields... and they have wonderful reviews..

best investment on a shotgun is , trigger work, recoil pad (I like mySimms ), sights... by changing from factory rifle sights to fiber optics, new recoil pad, and a trigger job, I cut from 5-6 in groups @50 yds to 3ish...

Bowhunter; My choice for rifled slug and muzzleloader barrels.
1-Leupold vari-x-111 1.5x5x20 very wide field of view at 1.5x
   and 4-5" eye relief. Cost $400.00 or less.
2- Warne quick release weaver style rings if your cantelever
    accepts them.
Just my opinion and works well for me.
