I have a few ponds to set this weekend, but the water level goes from 1" to mabe 8" for a distance of 32 feet out. I will be setting the beaver channel but they are going up the shore at three other locations. I am concerned that if I catch one in the channel and the other beaver sees it, they will become trap shy. I want to set the other locations also. I want to use my 330's with castor mounds. Any help?
                                                                                 Thanks, Ken

Im not a pro as im still learning everyday but i would set up heavy with your body grips  with castor mounds plus blind sets and bottom edge sets .... You can also use snares which 99.9% of bvrs havent seen   and will perfectly if bvr you have are already square shy... Good luck....

Hi Lee,
Thanks for the advice. I know the coni's have to be half submerged. In the shallow part should I dig deep enough and long enough so the jaws can swing to close and what is the specs with the snare? The only thing I know is the cable restraint can only be used after Jan. 1st.

95% plus of my beaver, are caught in 330 castor mound sets. This set can be made anywhere,it has to be one of the most versatile sets there is.I gang set an area, alternating my 2 beaver lures at every other set.
Nothing can beat walking up and see 8 beaver caught in less than 100 feet.
I will pull up some pics of my castor mound sets.
I do not mess with snares, use the 330s,and unlike with snares in shallow water----no live beaver,to alert the rest.

Works just fine completely submerged. When I trapped missouri, yhey require it,didn;t affect me in the least.I still used the cross sicks over the jaws, and blocked off the sides.

Bogmaster,
Nice pic's, However the problem that I am facing is the water level or depth.
Other than the channel, the water is only about 3" deep. The coni has to be at least 1/2 submerged. Example: If I was to legally set the coni at the correct depth then the bottom of the jaws would be 2" into the mud. The water level doesn't change too much for quite a ways out. Approx 40 feet out. And it is a open shoreline. I am going to set the channel but also want to set the other areas they are coaming out

In 3 inches of water, its time to move away some of the bottom.Remove enough of the mud to get your trap down to legal level. Also move enough to allow the trap jaws to function properly, and a little more out of the front. This will allow you to get your beaver.
