Just had a local Gun shop install Weaver scope bases and Bushnell
2X6 handgun scope (and bore sighted) on my 12 inch 454 Encore.
When I went to the range, I was shooting 2-3 feet high(@30 yards), even after ajusting the scope. When I returnded to the gun shop, he told me the base screws had come loose, so he tightened them and rebore-sighted.
Some how I get the feeling this is not going to help.
Any thoughts ?

I would suggest making sure your mount screws have blue loc tite. Then go and shoot and see where you are at. then come back and let us know your results.

I have a 4x EER Leupold on my .454 Encore. I was a little perplexed sighting it in, I would be dead on at 25, but 3-4" high at 50. It has to do with the muzzle jump, the slower the load, the higher the impact, the faster the load, the lower the impact because the bullet is subject to less muzzle jump due to higher velocity. That's how it was explained to me anyhow, feel free to disagree. All I know is that with a 320 gr. cast GC and 27 gr. H110, I can hold dead on an oil bottle anywhere from 10 to 100 yds. and be pretty sure to hit it, gallon jugs are not even a question. Hope you enjoy your barrel, don't ignore the light loads in the .45 Colt class, they are a lot of fun for practice out to 50-75 yds. or so. If you want to compare data, let me know. That 320 load is running at 1600 fps...

I guess that explains why my 460 shoots 8 to 12" lower than the 45 Colt +p and 454 Casull loads in my 15" Encore at 50 yards.........

Muzzle jump can vary from round to round but the reason you are dead on at 25 and high at 50 is because in order to get your line of sight through the scope (2.5 inches above the bore) and the and the bullet to cross paths (sighted in) then your barrel will have to be tilted slightly upward (bullets don't rise by themselves). So if it is dead on at 25 it will have to be higher at 50. Then as the bullet slows and gravity is more prominent in it's path it will be lower.

Well,
Blue lock tight seem to do the trick.
Farthest I have shot so far is ~50 yards using Win platinum Tips.
Holding a 2-3 inch group on average.
