Very interesting. Do you know if they are available any where yet? If i can get some for a 30-30 before season starts i might use the 30-30 this year.

All I can say is check with your Hornaday stocking dealer. I'm printing off the PDF advertiser to take to mine, so if they don't have it, they can order it.

I want the 30-30 and .35 Remington now, I don't have the Marlin 1895 or the Cowboy yet, but will soon have one of those 45-70 lever action rifles.

That is quite a step up in performance especially for the old .30-30 and the .35 Remington. I was thinking of having one of my .35s rechambered to .356 Win. Now I might not need to.

Hmmm, reviving the .357maxi rechamber to .35 Remington might have some more merit now, the 1:18¾" twist rate should handle the 200gr bullets ok, shouldn't it?? Or would the spitzer profile be a problem?? Anyone shot 200gr spitzers in their 357 Maxi??

This excites the hell out of me for the old 30-30. Might even take it elk hunting with these loads if they're as well-heeled as they claim. Any thoughts on these new bullets would be greatly appreciated on this end.

Plan on giving Hornady a call later today to see if and when they might offer these bullet's for handloading. I sure like to give them a try in my Buff Classic and my 458 Win Mag. Let you know if I find out anything.**************ogo

Yep, I will be contacting Midsouth Shooting Supply for several boxes to make the order worth while. None of our stores locally has gotten any information on this new ammo by Hornady.

One guy who also owns a Marlin 336 in .35 Remington was most interested..... like he said, I wonder just how much better its going to make my .35 Remington it just thumps the heck out of what ever it hits already.

I may just find out as I take my Marlin 336 .35 Rem hunting this week-end. My back is still feeling last week-ends hunt lugging my 11.5 pound Rolling Block around on the prairie.

For the 30-30, it is starting out with about 100 ft-lbs more energy, and using about a .30 ballistic coeficient. For the handloader, ME is probably doable already, and I think you could alway use a pointed standard bullet in a 2-shot lever rifle. One in the chamber and one in the tube.

Im a little leary of how a rubber tip is going to hold up for accuracy while being driven at mach 2. I assume Hornady has done a fair amount of testing however. Also, how many load/unload cycles will the tip withstand. For those hunters who seldom shoot deer :grin:

I fail to see why anybody shooting a Handi would get all hepped up about that bullet. Besides the factory load should be easy to duplicate in a Handi.

Most of the people responding to this thread are shooting lever guns. I don't own a 30-30 in a handi rifle but i have a marlin 336. That is why i'm so excited. My 336 just sets in the safe and gathers dust. But with the introduction of this ammo it will more than likely be my primary woods rifle this season.

I'd be happy if they'd just make the slugs available. Their 45-70 load isn't at it's full wits, trailing the .450 Marlin.. ...I'm sure for safety purposes, modern loads in older guns thing..
