i have had great service from my bushnells. i have the banner but i have the 4-12x40 model on my BDL in .223.

I am very happy with it.

I think it was $99.99 or thereabouts at Gander Mountain. I had a slight problem with the first one I bought, i think the rings were off and i killed it by tightening them? i just know when i got to the range it wouldn't adjust...all i can think is that those rings were not right or maybe that scope was just defective, it was a floor model...

the next one i got was fine and they exchanged it without a problem, were very professional about it.

anyway, they are very clear and have nice features, like a focus on the eyepiece and adjustments on the bell. i really like it for the amount i paid. i know i could do better with a Leupold but i am not one of those "spend more on the scope than on the gun" type guys.

The high ones work fine on my 22-250. I also have a set of high Millets on my o6.

I have a couple of Simmons scopes that have served me well.  I think that Bushnells are okay but they seem less refined than the Simmons.  And I don't care for Tasco's at all.

Choosing between Trashco and Bushnell, go Bushnell every time!!  The Trophy scopes are very nice for the money.

I hate to rain on your parade...BUT, IMHO, the BUSHNELL TROPHY may not be the best choice for handi. Ironically, one of the nice features is a hinderance on the Handi, that overly large power adjustment ring that is SOO nice to adjust with gloves on. Causes you to have to mount the scope either too high, (Higher than most high rings) or too far forward.

As for the Leupold rings, I prefer the top of the line leupold, in Weaver style. I can't remember the name, LRW or some string of letters like that. Te one in this pic is a MEDIUM!! Here is a pic:

Another option that may just work for you is to use the WEAVER 4X4 high or ex high (If still aval) in reverced front. Here is a pic:

Looking at these pics, you can see how that large adjustment ring will fall right where the hammer is causing the problems.

Good luck,

well,i have one bushnell,it fits but there's NO room to play around with. The ring dictates where the scope sits.I'm still thinking the bushnell is the best, but since i need 2 of em,i may buy a bushnell AND a tasco,or maybe a bushnell banner and a bushnell sportsman

Bushnell makes Tasco these days.  I just picked up a Tasco World class mildot 2.5x10 AO and am pleased so far. especialy since it was only 66.00 delivered.  Sits on top of my sporster 17mach2.  I have never had a high dollar scope so I can't attest to those virtues.  It seems made well enough so I'm happy.

My kids call me cheap so go figure, I like to think I'm frugal.

I use Burris Signature Zee rings almost exclusively, they don't need to be lapped to prevent marking or damaging the scope and they aren't too high. Mediums at .270" tall work with most scopes, but highs at .420" need to be used sometimes.

The leupold rings in CW's upper pic are PRW, I have a set of them on a spring air rifle, they're excellent rings when lapped properly, but being priced the same or more than the Sig Zees which are $25-$30 a pair, I prefer the Burris rings. But I wouldn't worry too much about minor ring marks on a budget scope....but the rings are good for the life of the rifle, and ya might wanta upgrade that scope sometime. No ring marks on a scope increases its value for resale.

Bushnell all the way. the only thing i'd put a Tasco on is a small bore rifle or .22 otherwise broken.

Bushnell makes Tasco these days.

That's sort of true, but there are a lot of the pre BPO scopes out there. If it's made in Japan or marked BPO, you're probably good to go, but those scopes made in China before Bushnell Performance Optics bought Tasco out of bankruptcy, are the reason Tasco is known as Trashco.

Bushnell doesn't make any scope, they market them. Light Optical Works makes their 4200 Elites in Japan, other OEMs make the other scopes in the Philippines and China.

While it may look like some of the cheaply priced scopes are a good deal...in the end...unless your lucky...you'll wind up going wishing you had spent more money to start on a better grade scope...I hate spending money on junk...and refuse to do it anymore...I would rather look for a used Leupold scope... than to spend 1/3 or 1/2 of the Leupolds asking price ...for a new piece of junk...I can buy used VX-1's for slightly over $130 around here and the used VX-2's run $30-$50 higher...and I know I can always send it in to be repaired for free if it fails...Don't scrimp on the optics...it's just not worth it...
