I just pulled out my latest issue of Precision Shooting from the plain white envelope it's mailed in.

Precision Shooting is, IMHO, the best gun magazine out there. It's motto is "dealing exclusively with extreme rifle accuracy". Every month, the cover art features an image of a different rifle--usually, a custom benchrest or vintage piece such as a Griffin & Howe double.

The November 2005 cover is...TA DA..an NEF ultra Varmint (223).

I was floored when I saw it and just had to fire up my 'puter and let everyone here in on the news.

The editorial tone can be a bit snooty-sounding but the content of the articles more than makes up for it.

Now everybody will want one. Longer wait times for barrels prices going up I can see where this is going.

Have been getting Precision Shooting magazine for many years. It is indeed a fine publication. When they do a review of a rifle you can rest assured that the have really tested that rifle. In addition, unlike most gun publications, they never give you manufacturers hype. If something is wrong they tell it
like it is, if something is right they praise it.

The November issue is up on PS's website.

The featured article is about hammer forging barrels; the cover art is only briefly reviewed in the magazine.

I don't think I've ever seen one anywhere but individual copies are available thru the mail from their ManchesterCT office: call 860-645-8776. The girl that answers the phone is very nice; they will send up to three, I believe it is, in one envelope. Back issues are also available.

There has been an ongoing series of articles on rimfire accuracy by Bill
calfee, who is rather well known for making killer rifles--he also turnes out to be a very readable and informative author.

If there are any retail outlets they will surely be able to provide that info.

Warning--reading PS can also be addictive.

Two OTC outlets available in the Milwaukee Metro area.

Booked solid in West Allis, and Fletchers Arms in Waukesha.

Kind of a roadtrip from Washington but there might be someone around here that might be interested.

Both stores also have Black Powder Cartridge News and Varmint Hunter.

There are very few BR shooters that do not subscribe to PS Shooting, me in cluded. Did not get my Nov. issue yet. To the north country it takes a bit longer. No the magazines are not available at news stands. Kim Wobble will send you a free copy if you ask for one. 860 645-8776.
