I was out Squirrel hunting today, and figured, if I see a Turkey, the .410 3 inch #4`s would be enough. Well, here they come, I took a 30 yeard shot and they must have bounched off, they all ran off :) Moral of the story, don`t use a .410 for Turkeys unless they are standing right next to you :-D Next Saturday, I take my Model 500 12ga. with 3 inch #`4s :D Jack.

So did I  I aimed right at the middle of the head and using a NEF Pardner with a Full choke and 3 inch #4`s, maybe I should have used the #6`s? Either way, I am taking out my first year Mossberg 500 Woodland Camo shotgun with 3 inch Winchester #4`s and a Full choke!! I may not ever run into a bachelor group of adult males again, I may have blown that one :( I would use a .22, but we can`t in the management area I am hunting them in. Regards-Jack.

Friend of mine killed a real nice longbeard with a .410.  Range was about 10 yards so maybe that was the difference.

Shoot 'em in the face at ten/fifteen yards = dead

I've done it out to 30yds, but I was using 6's.  The extra shot might of done the trick.

I would not take a shot with a 410. I like the .410 for squirrels and a close range partridge. But Turkeys.. they are a tough bird with a rudemetry nervous system. In other words.. they are not smart enough to know thay have been shot real good. You have to seperate the nervous system to put them down. .410 packs too little. Maybe 5 yards.. Maybe...

Shoot em in the head with no. 6's at 30yds or less and they'll drop dead whether they know it or not.

this season I'm going to use my daisy red rider for turkeys, deer, and home defense.  it shoots a single .177 caliber projectile at a whopping 350 fps, but if you JUST PICK YOUR SHOT and PUT IT WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE, you'll get the job done.
